Several European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) programmes are currently open to Latvian startups and innovative companies, offering funding, mentoring and international growth support. The largest opportunity reaches up to €2.5 million for an individual mobility startup, although each programme has different eligibility and funding conditions.
EIT Urban Mobility – up to €2.5 million
Mobility startups can access financial support of up to €2.5 million per company. Priority areas include urban logistics, public and shared transport, mobility data and AI, transport electrification, alternative fuels, and health and mobility.
This is not simply a traditional grant. Applicants must already be raising a pre-seed, seed or Series A round and must have a prototype, pilot or MVP. EIT Urban Mobility participates as a co-investor, and the support structure may also involve equity or a SAFE instrument.
The official 2026 schedule includes multiple cut-offs, including 31 August and 16 November.
EIT Health – up to €650,000
The Innovation Uptake Call supports mature digital, data-driven and AI-powered healthcare solutions with up to €650,000 per project, covering up to 50% of total project costs.
Projects must be ready for commercialisation and real-world healthcare deployment, and applicants need an international consortium of at least two independent organisations. The official deadline is 16 September.
EIT Food – up to €60,000 for pilots
Agrifood startups can access up to €60,000 for Proof-of-Concept and pilot projects carried out with prospective corporate customers.
Eligible activities can include product testing, field trials, functionality tests and other work supporting commercial validation. The final deadline is 30 November.
Creative-tech companies in Latvia – up to €500,000
EIT Culture & Creativity supports technology-enabled startups in fashion, architecture and audiovisual media. Scale-stage ventures can normally receive up to €200,000, while eligible companies headquartered in EIT RIS countries, including Latvia, may receive up to €500,000.
The application deadline is 12 October.
Gateway to Japan for market-ready startups
Gateway to Japan targets companies with a market-ready product at TRL 7 or above and at least one completed funding round. Participation is free, and selected startups receive €2,200 in financial support toward travel and accommodation in Japan.
The deadline is approaching rapidly: 3 September.
